Major anatomical parts of the brain include the medulla oblongata, pons, cerebellum, midbrain, diencephalon (including thalamus and hypothalamus), and cerebrum. The medulla oblongata, pons and midbrain together form the portion of the brain known as the brainstem, which continues rostrally with the spinal cord. They have argued that memory is located in specific parts of the brain, and specific neurons can be recognized for their involvement in forming memories. The main parts of the brain involved with memory are the amygdala, the hippocampus, the cerebellum, and the prefrontal cortex. Figure 8.07. The amygdala is involved in fear and fear memories.
These parts work in coordination and perform different functions of brain.
Septal area. These structures form connections between the limbic system and the hypothalamus, thalamus and cerebral cortex. The hippocampus is important in memory and learning, while the limbic system itself is central in the control of emotional responses. 7.
Cerebrum. The cerebrum constitutes the largest part of the human brain. It is also known as the … The scientists reveal that parts of the human brain are Forebrain, Midbrain & Hindbrain and the related structures that collectively act as a single highly specialized unit. These parts work in coordination and perform different functions of brain.

The brain and its parts can be divided into three main categories: the forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain. Lobes of the Brain The four lobes of the brain are the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes (Figure 4). The frontal lobe is located in the forward part of the brain, extending back to a fissure known as the central sulcus. •Here lie areas responsible for moving short-term memory traces into long-term memory traces (the hypocampal area). •Also housed in this region is the diencephalon which helps the body maintain homeostasis. •Of critical import to learning is the reticular activating system which helps with attention and concentration. Temporal Lobe The Temporal Lobe mainly revolves around hearing and listening. It receives information such as sounds and speech from the ears.

Looking at the tasks assigned to pons, it serves to monitor the sleep and waking up functions while working in coordination with other parts of the nervous system.
